This hand-drawn original pencil on paper item shows details of a wheel that was inspected at Stanley Yard after a derailment. The derailment occurred in Portage Ohio on June 19, 1932. There is a crack shown in the front facing view. There is also a profile view. Remarks written are as follows:
“Broken chilled tread wheel No. 197234
Made by New York Car Wheel Company
At Buffalo New York
Date Cast – 08-24-1927
R.R. initials N.Y.C.L.
Nominal weight – 700 lbs.”

“Broken chilled tread wheel at box L-3, N.Y.C. 242949 caused derailment in train NT-5 at Portage Ohio on June 19, 1932.
Examined at Stanley Ohio June 22, 1932.”
